Publications
Over six years, I have served as the sole designer behind the NTCRC's full publication catalog. From a 178-page national research report to a 13-page practitioner guidebook, every deliverable was designed to be recognizable as an NTCRC publication, logo or no logo.

Project Overview
All publications were produced in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign and adhere to the brand identity guide I developed early in my tenure at the Center. Color, typography, visual hierarchy, and layout conventions are consistent across every deliverable, whether a peer-reviewed academic journal, a data visualization series, or a conference-distributed flyer. The breadth of the catalog reflects both the Center's growing output and the evolution of the brand system over time.
The Publications
Painting the Current Picture Monograph
The PCP monograph is the NTCRC's flagship publication and a required deliverable under the Bureau of Justice Assistance cooperative agreement. The report presents national survey data on treatment courts across all fifty states and four territories and runs to 178 pages in its full form.
My responsibilities covered publication design, cover art, data visualization, and print-ready mapping. The title Painting the Current Picture lent itself naturally to a paint stroke design concept that swept across a map of the United States and its territories, giving a data-heavy federal research publication a visual identity that felt considered and engaging rather than institutional.
The interior included half-donut charts, bar and column charts, static maps created in Illustrator, and a significant number of data tables, many of which required careful decisions about how to break up dense content across pages while maintaining legibility. The completed publication was distributed in print at national conferences and made available online via Issuu.

PCP State Reports
Alongside the national monograph, the PCP process included the production of individual state reports for all fifty states and the territories of Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands — fifty-four reports in total, each running between fifteen and thirty pages. Applying consistent styling and layout across that volume of documents was a significant undertaking for a single designer. The state reports were distributed directly to statewide coordinators rather than published publicly, but were held to the same standard of quality as the national publication.
Data Digest
The Data Digest is a topic-based series that takes a focused look at treatment court data and presents it in a visually digestible format. Four issues have been produced to date, each centered on a specific subject and designed to be more visually expressive than the PCP monograph. Where the monograph prioritizes comprehensiveness, the Data Digest prioritizes clarity and accessibility, making it one of the more creatively interesting design challenges in the catalog.
THWC Survey Report
The Tribal Healing to Wellness Courts: Inaugural Survey of the Field is the first national survey focused exclusively on tribal healing to wellness court programs. Published in March 2023, the report presents findings from a first-of-its-kind data collection effort and required the same level of design rigor as the PCP monograph, including data visualization, cover design, and print-ready layout, while reflecting the distinct cultural context of tribal court programs.
Drug Court Review
The Drug Court Review is the NTCRC's peer-reviewed academic journal. Four issues have been designed and formatted, with the academic nature of the publication introducing a distinct set of constraints. APA formatting standards and the conventions of academic publishing limit some design decisions, but the cover and full interior layout of each issue were designed and formatted by me within those boundaries.
Beyond the Field Collections
Beyond the Field is a series of staff-written article collections that explore the human side of treatment court work. The format is primarily text-based, which placed a premium on typographic hierarchy, spacing, and layout to keep the reading experience engaging across what would otherwise be a dense document.
Marketing Your Treatment Court with IMC Guidebook
The IMC Guidebook is a practitioner-focused resource designed to help treatment court professionals communicate more effectively with their communities. Integrated marketing communication is not a concept most treatment court teams are formally trained in, so the guidebook needed to feel approachable and practical rather than academic. At thirteen pages, it is one of the shorter publications in the catalog, but the design challenge was meaningful: making a relatively complex communication framework feel accessible to a non-specialist audience.
Consistency by Design
Across every publication in the catalog, the same brand system shows up consistently. The hope is not just that these deliverables look polished in isolation, but that they read as a family, connected by a shared visual language that reflects the credibility and mission of the NTCRC.
